What it is
The PL 9W 2-Pin G23 Blacklight Blue UV Lamp is a specialist compact fluorescent lamp designed to generate long-wave UV-A radiation rather than conventional white illumination.
Its Blacklight Blue (BLB) construction suppresses much of the visible light output while allowing UV-A radiation to excite compatible fluorescent pigments, dyes, security markings and other UV-reactive materials. These materials then produce the characteristic visible glow associated with blacklight applications.
The lamp uses a G23 2-pin base, a common configuration for 9W PL-S style compact fluorescent lamps. In this type of lamp, the starter is typically incorporated into the lamp base, while the fitting provides the compatible external ballast/control gear.
Unlike an E27 self-ballasted CFL, this lamp is not designed for direct connection to 220–240V mains. It must be operated in a compatible G23 fluorescent fitting with the appropriate control gear.
As this is a generic specialist lamp, the exact peak UV-A wavelength, dimensions, UV radiant output and rated life should not be assigned manufacturer-specific values unless confirmed from the physical lamp or packaging.
