A wall socket is a place in a wall where you can connect electrical equipment to the electricity supply. A socket is the fixed product that is attached, usually to a wall or floor, that the plug is inserted into.
In South Africa the most common plug type is the 16 amp three pin. These are round pins that fit into the three pin 16 amp socket. There are a number of other sockets, including 5 amp sockets, usually used for plugging lights into lighting circuits.
You also now often also get USB plugs and sockets, for connecting cable to technology for recharging. The most common type are USB A, B and C. Electrical outlets (also known as outlets, electrical sockets, plugs, and wall plugs) allow electrical equipment to connect to the electrical grid. The electrical grid provides alternating current to the outlet. There are two primary types of outlets: domestic and industrial.
Do not overload the plugs. The plug connecting an electrical equipment should match with the power / current rating of the equipment. The maximum allowable power of electrical equipment connected for the different types of plug.
