The element which is in direct contact with the water, heats the water to the set temperature on the thermostat. Types: a. Standard nickel-plated or non-plated element with a copper sheath for use in areas with “soft” water. They are made with resistance wire and they operate on two levels, namely “off” and “on”. When these conventional elements start heating up they have to be submerged in the water, otherwise they burn out.

The faulty element is quite often the reason you won’t be able to get any hot water because the element in the geyser is used to heat up the water inside the tank. This is a common problem and can be diagnosed by dismantling your geyser and using a multimeter to check the resistance of the element. The multimeter should read between 10 and 30 ohms if the heating element is working correctly.
